this local community café and shop has recently been on the BBC as an example of a beacon of community over the past couple of years. a super place to cycle to across the levels, it’s become quite the destination. we have a belles on bikes cycle group and the wookey hub was our christmas ride destination. delicious food (toasties, salad, followed by latte and chocolate brownie) all home made, and the friendly owner came out with blankets and hot water bottles for us in the marquee. that’s service!

we’ve visited the newt situated between castle carey and bruton on a number of occasions. the garden café courtyard serves soups, salads, tea, coffee and cakes, under the plane trees and next to the well renowned shop. the garden cafe restaurant is well worth a visit and booking is recommended. we’ve had some delicious locally sourced meals there, and the log burners, warm atmosphere and stunning views certainly add to the experience. you will need to buy a ticket to enter the grounds – it’s a very memorable day out, and we could recommend!
